<p>Mitchell Starc, an Australian pacer, delivered a blistering yorker to Shamar Joseph, a fast bowler from the West Indies, that struck him squarely on the toe. The Windies cricket player had to quit injured because the agony was too much for him to handle.</p>

<p>With that, the West Indies, behind Australia by nine wickets on the third day of the day-night Test match in Brisbane, collapsed for 193 in their second innings, giving their hosts 216 runs to win the match.</p>
<p>With Joseph batting at three, Starc delivered the toe-crusher in the 73rd over. After an appeal for LBW, the umpire declared it out.</p>
<p>Replays and reviews from the West Indies, however, indicated that Starc had gone too far.</p>
<p>Even if the ruling was reversed, Starc’s delivery was enough to terminate the West Indies’ innings since Joseph was unable to go on.</p>
<p>In the first Test of the series, 24-year-old Shamar—a fast bowler himself—made his debut and immediately made an impression by taking five wickets.</p>
<p>The young player received accolades from West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite, who predicted a “bright future” for him.</p>
<p>“His international career is off to a great start, and the West Indies will benefit much from him in the future.” It didn’t surprise me. He definitely is something remarkable, in my opinion. And I felt really pleased for him,” Brathwaite had said.</p>
<p>West Indies had earlier chosen to bat first and had rallied from 64/5 to 311 all out at The Gabba. After their bowlers had reduced Australia to 54/5, they rallied to reach 289/9 thanks to a valiant fifty from Usman Khawaja and two rapid half-centuries from Pat Cummins and Alex Carey.</p>
<p>Australia, behind by 12 runs, nonetheless declared. West Indies were reduced to 193 in their second innings by the combined six wickets of Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon.</p>
<p>However, Australia lost their lead-off man, Khawaja, early in the chase after falling behind Alzarri Joseph on 10.</p>
<p>In the two-Test series, the West Indies are aiming to tie the score. They lost badly against Australia last week in Adelaide, losing by ten wickets.</p>
