In 2022, India will send more students to the US than China

According to a US immigration report, there was a significant rise in the number of international students studying in the US last year, with India expected to send more students than China in 2022.
Asia is the most common continent of origin, with the majority of students coming from China and India, according to the yearly data from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
According to the study, China sent fewer students in 2022 than in 2021 (-24,796), while India sent more (+64,300), which is comparable to the decline from the calendar year 2020 to 2021.
According to the report, California hosted 225,173 international students in 2022, making it the US state with the highest percentage of international students (16.5%), and all four regions of the nation experienced an increase in international student records between 2021 and 2022, with corresponding increases ranging from 8 to 11%.
In 2022, there were 276 723 active exchange visitors in the nation, up from 240 479 in 2021. This is a 15% increase.
In calendar year 2022, there were 1,362,157 entries in SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) for active F-1 and M-1 students. This was a 10.1% rise from calendar year 2021 and the most records since calendar year 2019.
The Department of Homeland Security manages information on non-immigrant students who come to the US primarily to study using the web-based SEVIS system.
From 2021 to 2022, there was a 7.8% increase in the number of international students enrolled in kindergarten through grade 12 (K12) institutions (+3,887).
In calendar year 2022, no K–12 institution welcomed more than 700 foreign students, as in calendar year 2021.
According to the report, there were 117,301 pre- and post-completion optional practical training (OPT) students in calendar year 2022 who had an employment authorization document (EAD) and reported working for an employer, an increase of 1.4% from calendar year 2021's 115,651 students.
