In October 2023, Jio Adds 31.6 Lakh New Mobile Subscribers While VIL Loses 20.4 Lakh: TRAI Data

<p>According to monthly subscriber figures released by TRAI, in October 2023, the biggest telecom provider in India, Reliance Jio, attracted 31.59 million mobile subscribers, while competitor Bharti Airtel gained 3.52 lakh customers.</p>

<p>Vodafone Idea, the struggling carrier, lost 20.44 lakh mobile customers in October, thus there was no reprieve.</p>
<p>Jio’s overall wireless subscriber count increased from 44.92 crore in September to 45.23 crore in October with the addition of 31.59 lakh people.</p>
<p>The wireless subscriber growth of 3.52 lakh, spearheaded by Sunil Mittal, lifted Airtel’s total user count to 37.81 crore in October.</p>
<p>The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released statistics indicating that Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL)’s subscriber losses caused its cellular user base to drop to 22.54 crore in October.</p>
<p>The cash-strapped VIL has been struggling with declining subscription numbers and fundraising.</p>
